Job summary

Benchmark Electronics is seeking a skilled Machinist to perform diversified general maintenance activities in Tempe, AZ. Job description

Overview

Perform diversified general maintenance activities at various levels of complexity, referring to blueprints and drawings to plan and execute machining operations.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate lathes, millers, shapers, grinders, planers, and power drills.
  • Work from blueprints, sketches and verbal instructions.
  • Perform highly diversified machining operations including boring, turning, facing, reaming, grinding, milling and tapering.
  • Work on machined parts, forgings and castings of varying complexity and critical dimensions.
  • Determine and maintain proper operational sequences, performing necessary mathematical calculations for each job.
  • Determine appropriate feeds and speeds for all operations.
  • Check own work, typically to tolerances of +/- 0.001 +/- 0.0005.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints to manufacture parts from a layout drawing without the use of sketches or verbal instructions, making required mathematical calculations.
  • Perform bench work including filing, de-burring, grinding, lapping, indexing, scraping and fitting to complete mechanical assemblies.
  • Set up and interpret gauges, electro-limit gauges and size blocks for accuracy checks.
  • Make decisions on fits and tolerances as required.
  • Operate instruments such as air gauges, electro-limit gauges and size blocks to interpret results of own work.
  • Maintain quality of work to ensure Customer Satisfaction and meet or exceed expectations.
Qualifications
  • 2-year technical degree or apprenticeship certificate preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in complex machining operations; experience may include CNC programming.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail, discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation, work overtime, work with diverse groups, and participate in continuous improvement activities.
Other Information

This position is classified as safety-sensitive. Where permitted by applicable law or required by federal regulation, Benchmark will conduct a pre-employment drug screen. Enforcement of a drug- and alcohol-free workplace and reasonable-suspicion and post-incident testing may also be conducted per applicable law.

Tempe, AZ – Southern Ave.

Schedule

Shift 2: Monday – Friday, 1:30 PM – 12:00 AM.

Full Time.
