Job summary

Sole Hire is hiring a Machinist II for an immediate opening in Hamilton, NJ. First shift, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, full-time/direct hire, clean temperature-controlled shop with experienced supervision.

You will set up and operate CNC and manual lathes/ mills, read engineering drawings, and ensure parts meet GD&T specifications while maintaining safety and quality standards. Training offered for cross-skills in mills and lathes.

Qualifications

• 4-year Certified Apprenticeship plus 2 years setup experience or 5+ years machining setup/operating experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Proficient with calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and/or manual lathes and mills.
• Edit machine programs and adjust tooling/offsets.
• Machine precision components to engineering specs.
• Inspect parts for accuracy and quality.
• Read blueprints and GD&T.
• Troubleshoot machining and quality issues.
• Assist with fixtures, tooling, and process improvements.

Machinist II – Immediate Hire

Location: Hamilton, NJ
Shift: First Shift | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Employment: Full-Time | Direct Hire

Sole Hire is recruiting on behalf of our client, an established international pump manufacturer, for an experienced Machinist II to join their team in Hamilton, NJ.

This is an immediate opening within a small, hands-on machine shop. You'll work in a clean, temperature-controlled facility alongside an experienced supervisor and team producing precision components used in pump manufacturing.

What You’ll Do

• Set up and operate CNC and/or manual lathes and mills
• Edit machine programs and make necessary tooling/offset adjustments
• Machine precision components to engineering specifications
• Inspect completed parts to ensure accuracy and quality
• Read blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T
• Troubleshoot machining and quality issues
• Assist with fixtures, tooling, and process improvements
• Perform routine equipment maintenance
• Maintain safety, quality, and 5S standards

Requirements

This is a setup machinist position—not an operator-only role.

• 4-year Certified Apprenticeship + 2 years of setup experience OR 5+ years of machining setup/operating experience
• Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual lathes or mills
• Ability to perform machine setups with minimal supervision
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring tools
• Ability to adjust tooling and work-piece offsets to maintain accuracy
• Strong machining fundamentals, mechanical aptitude, and attention to quality
• Basic computer and math skills

Experience with both lathes and mills is preferred, but not required. If you're strong in one and have solid machining fundamentals, the company is willing to train a motivated and coachable machinist on the other.
