Job Summary :

The CNC Machinist I will set up and operate all CNC equipment and machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. The machinist utilizes all necessary tooling, cuts and shapes items with CNC machine tools. The CNC Machinist I also supports metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties, and mathematics.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of basic machining practices
  • Understanding of Fadal, Hyundai and Siemens controls and machines a plus.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; calling for repairs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs as needed.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first run-part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards as required.
  • Maintains Specifications by observing all operations related to CNC Mills and Lathes, including turning, facing and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions;
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs as needed.
  • Must have own tools or willing to obtain as needed.

Specifications/Qualifications:

  • Experience – 2 years of experience in a CNC position.
  • Education – High School Diploma or equivalent, Technical Certificate and/or on-the-job training.
  • Responsibility – Carry out assigned duties while observing all safety regulations.
  • Complexity of duties – Attention to detail, use of good judgment.
  • Supervision received – Direct oversight from the CNC Supervisor.
  • Mental and physical demands – Standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, speaking, listening, climbing, motor coordination skills, coordination of eyes, hands, and feet. Extreme noise, heat, cold, dusty environment. Mostly indoors.
  • Confidential data – Access to intellectual property; must remain confidential and cannot be reproduced.

Must be able to pass a drug test and background check without felonies.
