Job summary

Jabil Brandywine campus in West Chester, PA, is seeking a Machinist I for the 2nd shift (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM). The role involves operating a range of machine tools, reading blueprints, and fabricating machined components for medical devices.

Responsibilities include setting up machines, calculating feeds and speeds, performing inspections with precision tools, and possibly programming machines while collaborating with the Lead to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or higher education preferred.
• 0-2 years experience as a machinist; familiarity with CNC, Lathe and manual machines a plus.
• Ability to read blueprints and basic math; capable of heavy lifting 50-75 lbs.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proficient with hand measuring and inspection tools.

• Operate a variety of machine tool equipment including drill press, lathe, milling machine, CNC and others.
• Fabricate machined components from blueprints and production diagrams.
• Calculate tooling feeds and speeds using handbook formulas.
• Perform inspections with micrometers, dial indicators and calipers; may program machines.
• Collaborate with Lead to complete jobs on schedule and accurately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Machinist I can operate most or all machines in the shop.

JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Operate a good variety of machine tool equipment such as a drill press, lathe, milling machine, CNC, and other hand and power machines.
• Works from blueprints, sketches, production diagrams, engineering drawings and verbal instructions to fabricate a variety of machined components.
• Makes certain shop calculations using handbook formulas to layout patterns and determine tooling feeds and speeds.
• Does some inspection on parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers.
• May program some machines.
• Works with Lead to complete jobs on schedule and accurate.
• Performs other job functions as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

• Some ability to read math and angles.
• Good blueprint reading.
• Capable of performing some heavy labor, ability to lift 50-75 lbs.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Good working knowledge of hand measuring and inspection tools.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High School/GED or higher education preferred
• 0-2 years experience as a machinist; familiarity with CNC, Lathe and manual machines a plus
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
