Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for a weekend-shift role in Kentucky. You will set up and operate multiple CNC tools with high accuracy, read blueprints, edit CNC programs, and use Renishaw probing and CMM for inspections. Strong GD&T knowledge and rigging/safety basics are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of CNC experience required.
  • Solid understanding of basic shop maths and geometric tolerancing.
  • Ability to interpret and edit CNC programs.
  • Familiarity with GD&T symbols and inspection methods.
  • Experience with rigging, crane operation and safety practices.
  • Ability to read complex engineering blueprints and tool prints.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate multiple CNC machine tools in a low-volume, high-mix environment.
  • Execute work from first cut to final piece while complying with safety and quality standards.
  • Interpret and edit CNC programs; ensure conformance with ISO/TS, IRIS, AAR and CMMI.
  • Perform simple Renishaw probing, setup CMM, and record SPC data.
  • Maintain 5S in the work cell and support continuous improvement initiatives.

How will you make a difference?

Setup and operate multiple CNC machine tools in low volume, high mix, job shop environment. Taking responsibility for all phases of the process from the first cut to the last completed piece. Executing work according to all safety regulations and maintaining high-quality standards aligning with ISO/TS, IRIS, AAR & CMMI requirements.

  • Our job titles may span more than one career level. The hourly range for this role is between $22.00 - $26.00 an hour.

  • We also provide vacation paid and 12 paid holidays per year.

The actual hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. What do we want to know about you?
  • Must be able to work the Weekend Shift: Friday - Sunday 5:00am - 5:00pm (Will be paid for 40hrs)
  • Preferably an associate degree in Machine Tool Technology (MTT), High School Diploma, GED, and evidence of relevant/significant work experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of CNC experience
  • Must be knowledgeable in basic shop math: Trigonometry, Pythagorean Theorem, etc.
  • Must be able to interpret and edit CNC programming
  • Must be knowledgeable in GD&T, and understand identifiers (symbols), inspection methods, etc.
  • Basic rigging principles, crane operation, crane & hoist inspection, and safe practices

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to plan and execute highly complex work to precision tolerances, allowances, and finishes.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex Engineering blueprints, tool prints, and sketches
  • Requires the ability to work without supervision
What will your typical day look like?
  • Perform setup of machine tool within standard route time
  • Operate multiple machine tools simultaneously
  • Achieve desired productivity based on product cycle time >90%
  • Navigate FANUC controls with knowledge of wear & geometry pages to ensure conformance of product
  • Critically think and troubleshoot to quickly resolve problems and return machine tool to production
  • Use Renishaw Probing system and perform simple functions (Easy Setting)
  • Setup and Operate CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine)
  • Inspect product to engineering blueprints using various gauging
  • Complete and sign off FAI (First Article Inspection)
  • Enter SPC (Statistical Process Control) data and adjust the process based on data analysis
  • Perform TPM inspection on equipment as scheduled and complete the associated checklist
  • Maintain 5S requirements in a designated work cell, performing daily 5S activities
  • Support & contribute to continuous improvement - SMED, Kaizen, Fixture Design, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to workplace hazards.
