Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT, seeks a Machinist/Fabricator for 3rd shift. You will machine, fabricate and finish turbine engine parts from plans and data, using a range of tools and equipment on a busy production floor.

You will perform braze operations, measure parts, document results, and assist with trials and repairs while following strict procedures. The role is onsite with competitive benefits and a unionized environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Internal candidates prioritized per union/contract terms.

Responsibilities

• Work from operation sheets, drawings and verbal instructions to machine, fabricate and finish turbine engine parts.
• Perform bench assembly and finishing operations with various hand and power tools.
• Perform braze fabrication operations and related tasks like resistance tack welding.
• Perform light and water checks on brazed honeycomb assemblies and rework parts per instructions.
• Use fixed/variable measuring instruments to check dimensions.
• Record results into computer systems as required.
• Perform routine servicing and maintain equipment as instructed.
• Assist with new-part process trials, repairs and other assignments.

What You Will Do

• Work from operation sheets, drawings, computer-generated information, and verbal instructions to obtain the specified equipment, tools, and gauges needed to machine, fabricate, and finish a variety of production turbine engine parts.
• Perform bench assembly and finishing operations as assigned, using a variety of handheld tools, power tools, and other equipment to process parts through various stages of manufacturing.
• Perform braze fabrication operations, including assembly, sizing, and application of braze paste, tape, or powder, as well as resistance tack welding.
• Perform light and water checks on brazed honeycomb assemblies and rework parts that have been rejected, following prescribed repair instructions, standard practices, and procedures.
• Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to check dimensions.
• Record results and enter information into computer data systems as required.
• Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area, following specified procedures and written instructions, such as operator checklists, to maintain equipment and ensure that it operates properly.
• Assist personnel responsible for new-part process tryouts, repairs, and other specialized assignments within the scope and skill level of this job description.

Qualifications You Must Have

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment
