Job summary

APEL Extrusions Limited is seeking a Die Corrector/Machinist apprentice in Phoenix, AZ. The program runs rotationally through days to train on the Die Shop process, with advancement toward the Die Corrector role over a four-year period.

The apprentice will learn to prepare dies, inspect surfaces, perform quality checks, and manage caustic operations within a production environment, while developing precise measurement and layout-reading skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of EPICS system and extrusion tooling required.
• Ability to read layouts and perform basic math calculations.
• Detail oriented with good communication and measurement skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare dies for caustic and sandblast after boil out.
• Pull dies according to shift schedules and inspect die surfaces.
• Perform quality checks on new dies and monitor nitride.
• Polish bearings and address minor bearing defects.
• Manage caustic tanks and cleaning (titration).
• Learn the company die system in EPICS and follow safety procedures.
• Support apprenticeship progression over four years.

The Die Shop apprentice learns and progressively performs the duties of a Die Corrector, with the intent to transition into the Die Corrector position.

The Die Shop apprentice learns and progressively performs the duties of a Die Corrector, with the intent to transition into the Die Corrector position.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepare dies for caustic.
• Sandblast dies after boil out.
• Pull dies as per shift schedules.
• Check die surfaces for nicks, washout, and breakage.
• Perform quality checks for new dies.
• Monitor nitride.
• Polish bearings and correct minor bearing defects.
• Managing caustic tanks and cleaning (titration).
• Learn the company die system in EPICS.
• Follow all safety requirements and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned / duties advance throughout four(4) years in the apprenticeship program.
