Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a Machinist D (Ceramic Machinist / Machine Operator, 2nd Shift) to perform CNC machining, milling, lathe turning, cutting, grinding and related tasks to fabricate mechanical parts per engineering designs.

The role requires blueprints comprehension, precise tolerances, and strong safety practices. Candidates should have extensive setup/operating experience and be capable of teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Requires highly developed job knowledge/skills.
• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in setup and operation of CNC and hand milling machines, lathes, and other shop tools.

• Must be able to use basic hand tools and fixturing.
• Must use PPE appropriate to the use of chemicals and protection from other hazards.

• Basic shop math includes measuring ratios by weight and volume.
• Must be able and willing to work in and promote a team environment.
• Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures, while maintaining a commitment to a high standard of safety; comply with all safety laws as well as company safety policies and procedures.

Job Description:

Responsible for the planning, layout, setup, operating and making tool adjustments for a variety of major conventional or automatic machines. Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of ceramic to precision dimensions. Checks and inspects and builds machining operations against specified tolerances. May include work with fabrication, or machine hardware and assemblies. May also make recommendations concerning use of and improvement of materials and design.
