Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, routing instructions, manuals or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Set up and operate machines, ensure proper fixtures, tools, and materials are used.
  • Calculate and set controls for machining factors and monitor for out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Verify machined parts using precision measuring instruments and perform first-piece inspection when needed.
  • Collaborate with team to improve processes and production efficiency and perform routine maintenance.

OverviewJoin our dynamic team as a Machinist at our facility located in Derby, KS! We are looking for skilled machinists to work across all shifts, contributing to the production of high-quality components in a fast-paced environment. If you have a passion for precision and a knack for problem-solving, we want to hear from you!ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, routing instructions, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining as required by router instructions and good shop practice.Properly select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines. Must be able to improvise setups using common tooling such as risers, angle plates, etc.Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth or angle of cut or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media.Must observe machine operation to predict or detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining conditions, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.Verify that all machined details are produced in a manner that meets print or router specifications, using precision measuring instruments. Request first piece inspection when producing multiple piece runs.Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings, tooling, or programmed control data.Review the next project’s routers, programs, set-up sheets and tool sheets while the current part is running.Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools and power tools.Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.Enter correct data into data collection system to ensure accurate labor reporting.Monitor and maintain proper cleanliness of machine and work area on a daily basis.May install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance, working under the direction of maintenance personnel.May develop specifications from general description and draw sketch of part or product to be fabricated.Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines to ensure optimal performance.Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance production efficiency.QualificationsMinimum of four years of trade school, vocational education, or apprenticeship.Required to have specialized experience with particular materials, product s, precision level, machining process or size, type, or trade name of machine.A minimum of five years work experience.Proficient in operating CNC and manual machining equipment.Strong understanding of machining processes, tools, and materials.Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality work.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
