Job summary

Parker Hannifin’s Quick Coupling Division in Chetek, WI is seeking an Automatics Operator to set up and run multi-spindle automatics, monitor quality, and troubleshoot in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.

You’ll work with ISAMs, NoCAMS and Hydromats, follow drawings and SPC charts, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring safe, efficient production. Training provided by Parker is included.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of machining experience preferred.
  • Ability to read complex drawings, perform shop mathematics and use precision measuring tools.
  • Must be able to grind/sharpen tools and select inserts and coatings.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with computers; Parker training provided.
  • Must have completed Parker QCD Basic Shop Course.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and adjust multi-spindle automatics, ISAMs, NoCAMS, and Hydromats.
  • Plan sequences; select spindle speeds, tooling, feeds and settings for new/standard work.
  • Check parts for dimensional and finish conformance; correct deviations.
  • Maintain SPC charting and records.
  • Maintain tooling, oil and coolant levels; perform TPM.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and CAPA teams.
  • Operate CNC lathes as assigned; ensure quality throughout production.

This role ensures consistent quality, high productivity, and safe operation while supporting continuous improvement in a precision manufacturing environment.

An Automatics Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, adjusting, and performing basic troubleshooting on multi-spindle automatic screw machines to produce quick coupling components to specification. This role ensures consistent quality, high productivity, and safe operation while supporting continuous improvement in a precision manufacturing environment.

Parker’s Quick Coupling Division is the largest manufacturer of quick couplings in the world. A quick coupling is used to provide a fast, make-or-break connection of fluid or gas transfer lines. Our plants provide critical equipment for many different industries including Agriculture, Construction, and Data Processing.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
  • Use safety best practices including wearing appropriate PPE, practicing Behavior Based Safety, and performing LOTO.
  • Set-up, operate and adjust multi-spindle automatics, ISAMs, NoCAMS, and/or Hydromats
  • Plan operational sequences; selects spindle speeds, collets, tooling, tool arrangement and clearances, feed rates, cams and settings for new and unusual work and for standardized work and variations when not prescribed.
  • May suggest improvements for standard or special tooling to suit materials or unusual cutting conditions.
  • Install collets, set and secure tooling holders, set tooling stops, cams and indexing mechanisms, operating travel and tool feed rates; set bar stock feed mechanism and stops to perform operations such as face, form, turn, drill, ream, bore, tap, thread and cut off stock up to the capacity of the machines; set tooling offsets, adjust computer readings.
  • Operate machines to produce pilot pieces for first piece verification to check set-ups; make adjustments to correct variances.
  • Check parts produced for dimensional and finish conformance to specifications. Must be able to correct deviation and notify lead of any significant deviation. Remove and reset tooling or otherwise adjust machine as required. Assure all parts are produced with minimum burrs, if any. Manually clean and deburr parts. Handle specialty parts with care.
  • Remove machined parts, bar ends and turnings from machines. Separate recyclable turnings.
  • Maintain statistical process control charting.
  • Perform work required from drawings, engineering specifications, layouts and other operating instructions. Recommend improvements.
  • Use all standard, variable and attribute gauging to check work.
  • Responsible for keeping all tooling used in the area inventoried and organized in the mini-cribs.
  • Use ERR’s to notify engineering and management of items to be reviewed.
  • Maintain proper oil and coolant levels and perform equipment required Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM).
  • Participate in the High Performance Team (HPT) and Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Participate on Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) teams as required.
  • Operate CNC lathes including multiple spindle CNC lathes if assigned by Lead or Supervisor.
  • Responsible for quality parts throughout production run.
Physical Requirements
  • Continuously lifting and moving very light weight material (1-5 lbs).
  • Frequently lifting and moving average weight material (5-50 lbs).
  • Occasional lifting and moving heavy weight material up to (50 lbs. +) with assistance.
