The position offers a wage of $25.92/hour ($24.00/hour plus an 8% night shift premium). Machinists can advance to higher positions with experience, earning up to $32.00/hour.

As a Machinist at Caterpillar, you will:

  • Follow documented procedures, standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe, defect-free operations to create and machine components.
  • Set up and operate CNC equipment and tooling.
  • Operate CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
  • Position heavy fabricated metal components in machining fixtures using overhead and jib cranes.
  • Inspect work quality using gauges, micrometers, etc.
  • Set up cutting tools and inspect for wear.
  • Make and update CNC machine program changes.
  • Research and test various cutting tools for cycle time and cost improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Machining experience including loading/unloading work-holding fixtures
    OR
  • Currently attending or completed a Machinist technical program (e.g., Machine Tool Technology)
  • Intermediate proficiency in operating inspection equipment, gauges, and tools, capable of functioning independently

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • Perform repetitive operations
  • Operate lifting devices
  • Lift up to 35 lbs.

Preferred Candidates will also have:

  • CNC machining experience
  • Mazak machining experience
  • CNC horizontal and vertical milling experience
  • EIA machine programming skills
  • Intermediate computer proficiency
  • Further education beyond high school
  • Manufacturing or planning experience
  • Proficiency with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work
  • Basic print-reading skills
  • Knowledge of machine centers
  • Understanding of technical requirements such as tolerance and fit

Shift Schedule:

2nd shift: Monday-Friday, 3 pm - 11:10 pm

3rd shift: Sunday-Friday, 11 pm - 7:10 am
