Job summary

Swisher is seeking a Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain CNC machinery and tooling to produce high‑precision components for critical manufacturing operations, emphasizing accuracy, efficiency, and safety.

You will read blueprints and schematics, perform precise measurements with calibrated tools, and translate designs into reliable production processes that meet exact tolerances and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains CNC software and machinery to support precision manufacturing, programming, setup, and execution to meet exact specifications with safety and quality standards.
  • Operates and maintains precision machining equipment, including grinders, lathes, milling machines, and drilling tools, setting up and running them safely to meet tolerances.
  • Reads blueprints and schematics to determine machining requirements, specifications, and tolerances, translating designs into production processes.
  • Applies mathematical skills to perform precise measurements, calculations, and dimensional analysis to maintain tolerances and quality.
  • Communicates technical information clearly and documents machining processes, reports, and production records to support accuracy and compliance.
  • Develops manufacturing plans based on technical specs and production requirements, evaluating processes and implementing solutions to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and troubleshoots issues during manufacturing to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Performs reverse engineering of replacement parts by analyzing components, creating drawings, and developing accurate specifications for maintenance.
  • Maintains understanding of health and safety regulations to promote a safe working environment and compliance with standards.

Job description

The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machine tools to produce
precision parts and components used in manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operates and maintains Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software and machinery to
    support precision computer-aided manufacturing. Responsible for programming, setup, and
    execution of CNC operations to produce high-quality components that meet exact
    specifications, while ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to safety and industry
    standards.
  • Operates and maintains precision machining equipment, including grinders, lathes, milling
    machines, and drilling tools. Responsible for setting up, adjusting, and safely running these
    machines to fabricate components to exact specifications, ensuring accuracy, efficiency,
    and adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to determine machining
    requirements, specifications, and tolerances. Translates design documents into accurate
    production processes, ensuring components are fabricated to precise dimensions and
    quality standards.
  • Applies strong mathematical skills to perform precise measurements, calculations, and
    dimensional analysis during machining processes. Ensures accuracy in maintaining
    tolerances, verifying specifications, and producing components that meet rigorous quality
    and technical standards.
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills to effectively convey technical
    information, collaborate with team members, and document machining processes. Ensures
    clarity in instructions, reports, and production records to support accuracy, efficiency, and
    compliance with organizational standards.
  • Utilizes strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective manufacturing plans
    based on technical specifications and production requirements. Evaluates processes,
    identifies potential challenges, and implements solutions that optimize efficiency, maintain
    quality standards, and ensure components are produced to precise tolerances.
  • Applies strong problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and troubleshoot issues that arise
    during the manufacturing process. Develops and implements effective solutions to minimize
    downtime, maintain production efficiency, and ensure components meet quality and safety
    standards.
  • Performs reverse engineering of replacement equipment parts by analyzing existing
    components, creating technical drawings, and developing accurate specifications. Ensures
    compatibility and functionality of newly fabricated parts, supporting maintenance operations
    and minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of health and safety regulations to promote a safe
    working environment and reduce the risk of workplace accidents. Consistently applies
    safety protocols, conducts proper equipment handling, and ensures compliance with
    organizational and regulatory standards to safeguard employees and maintain operational
    efficiency.
