Job summary

Airborne Tampa seeks a skilled machinist to fabricate, repair and maintain aircraft parts and tooling in a fast-paced shop environment.

You will read technical manuals, blueprints and drawings, perform milling and lathe operations, and work with ferrous and non-ferrous metals. A valid airport SIDA badge and the ability to work flexible hours are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 30 months of formal machinist training or machine shop experience.
• Knowledge of shop practices, standard charts and tables, blueprints, and mathematics.
• Ability to identify and work with ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and other materials common to aircraft repair.
• Must be able to solve gear cutting problems.
• Must be able to use all required hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Must have thorough working knowledge of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges and other job-related instruments and equipment.
• Must be able to obtain an airport SIDA badge.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and overtime as required by supervisor/manager.
• Works well with others by showing mutual respect and consideration.
• A valid driver’s license is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets technical manuals, technical drawings, blueprints, sketches and other written or oral instruction used to repair, fabricate, and manufacture aircraft repair parts and special tools.
• Performs milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring and conventional milling and lathe work, using various engine lathes.
• Removes or fabricates aircraft parts and tools.
• Performs rework, repair, and maintenance of tools and related items.
• Performs user maintenance and repair of shop equipment.
• Assist other machinists in department with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor or shop manager.

• Airframe license preferred but not required

Physical Requirements And Environmental Conditions

• Ability to climb and work from ladders, work stands, and other heights.

• Must have correctable near and far vision
