Job summary

MiTek in Saint Charles, MO is seeking a skilled Machinist to set up and operate conventional manual lathes, fabricating metal and non-metal parts with tight tolerances. You will read blueprints, interpret work orders, and select cutting tools, speeds, and feeds to produce quality components.

The role requires measuring with micrometers and calipers, ensuring accuracy, maintaining a clean, safe workspace, and reporting inspection results.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years manufacturing or job shop experience preferred.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and geometry concepts.
• Technical School Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

A Brief Overview

The Machinist will set up and operate conventional manual lathe machine using Lean and 5S methodologies to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts.

Responsibilities

• Identifies different types and sizes of steel needed for the job (primarily HRS and CRS)
• Interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, work orders, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
• Set up and operate turning machine to turn, bore, thread, or face metal materials
• Work from drawings and written instructions to create parts for customer-specific equipment with precision/close tolerances
• Ability to read and understand a tape measure, 12-inch scale, micrometers, calipers, and other measuring devices (Imperial and Metric)
• Inspect finished parts and record results
• Maintain clean and organized work area
• Select Appropriate cutting tools, speeds and feeds for machining operations
• Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes but is not limited to the ability to be present at work, arrive on time and be at the workstation ready for work at the start of the shift, and work mandatory overtime when necessary

Qualifications

• High School/GED required
• 3+ Years Experience in manufacturing or job shop environment preferred
• Able to perform mathematical skills such as calculating proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume and able to apply concepts of basic geometry
• Technical School Certificate preferred

This is a physical position that requires the individual to be able to: stand, walk and carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull, climb, walk up stairs and crouch. This position requires the individual to be able to communicate through speaking and hearing.
