Job summary

Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. is seeking an entry-level Machinist to support manufacturing and field service by fabricating, repairing, and refurbishing precision components used in compressor systems.

You will work in a shop environment operating manual machines—lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses—producing parts from sketches and blueprints. This role provides hands-on training and room for advancement within the oil and gas service operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational or technical training preferred.
• 1+ year as a machinist in a shop environment.
• Proficiency with manual machining equipment (lathes and grinders).
• Experience with engine compressors and rebuilding valves and compressor glands (preferred).
• Willingness to work in both shop and field environments.
• CNC software experience a plus.

Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc., is seeking a Machinist position. This role is an entry-level position that supports manufacturing and industrial service operations by fabricating, repairing, and refurbishing precision components used in oil and gas and industrial compressor systems. This role is responsible for producing parts from sketches, technical drawings, and blueprints, typically related to compressors, engines, valves, and associated mechanical assemblies.

Working primarily in a shop environment with occasional field support, the Machinist operates manual machining equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses to perform basic to moderate machining tasks. This position performs standardized assignments while adhering to established machining practices, quality requirements, and safety standards common to industrial and oil and gas service operations. This role assists with the rebuilding and repair of compressor components, including valves, compressor glands, and related mechanical parts.

This role exercises limited independent judgment while working under general supervision and following established procedures and policies. The Machinist I collaborates closely with experienced machinists, service technicians, and supervisors to meet production schedules, support field service needs, and maintain high standards of workmanship. The position provides hands-on experience and skill development within manufacturing and oil and gas compressor service operations, creating a foundation for advancement to higher-level machinist roles.

Responsibilities

• Comply with established company safety and operating rules, procedures, and guidelines; and be responsible for reporting unsafe practices to your supervisor.
• Have knowledge and ability to priority tasks.
• Knowledge of required tools and maintenance care.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment to protect oneself and others in accordance with Company guidelines and all applicable safety rules.
• Responsible for maintaining accurate records of time and parts used on specific work order tasks.
• Identify the desired machine part with internal customers using sketches, drawings, and/or blueprints.
• Take basic measurements and mark materials for cutting or shaping.
• Assist with machine setup and proper tools for each job.
• Operate basic machine tools to produce parts to print specifications.
• Assist in troubleshooting and making repairs to production fixtures and machinery, when necessary.
• Work with senior machinist to inspect finished parts for conformance to requirements, inspecting for flaws and/or defects.
• Assist with equipment maintenance by performing basic preventive maintenance and repair of minor damages.
• Work closely with senior machinists and technicians to attain the desired product.
• Works under direct supervision. Requires frequent guidance on more complicated problems and projects.
• Perform all other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor.

Education

• This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational or technical education is preferred.

Experience

• One or more years of experience as a machinist in a shop environment, or an equivalent combination of job-related education and experience
• Basic proficiency with manual machining equipment, including lathes and grinders
• Mechanical experience working with engine compressors, including rebuilding valves and compressor glands
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Willingness and ability to work effectively in both shop and field environments
• CNC software experience preferred but not required
