Job summary

Lofton Staffing Services is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist in Metairie, LA to produce machined parts on CNC Vertical Mills from setup through inspection.

You will use MasterCam, read CAD drawings, and follow work orders while ensuring quality and safety. This full-time position offers steady hours and opportunities for overtime based on workload.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational training or apprenticeship in machining preferred.
• Experience with CNC Mills and Lathes.
• Reading technical drawings and work orders.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute machining tasks: closely follow WO Travelers and CAD drawings to develop machining plans.
• Set up machinery: install and adjust chucks, tools, attachments, and other components; indicate vices and tram heads.
• Load machinery: position stock using appropriate lifting methods including overhead cranes.
• Verify settings: measure positions, inspect first-run parts, ensure adherence to design specs.
• Maintain specifications: observe and measure operations, troubleshoot, adjust controls, replace worn tools.
• Adhere to safety protocols: follow safety procedures and regulations for safe operations.
• Perform equipment maintenance: complete preventive maintenance per manufacturers instructions and daily upkeep.
• Maintain accurate time keeping: clock on/off operations using bar code scanners in ERP.
• Support organizational goals: take ownership of new requests and identify opportunities to enhance job performance.

Our established local client is hiring an experienced CNC Machinist! You'll produce machined parts on CNC Vertical Mills using MasterCam, from setup through inspection. G-Code familiarity is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute machining tasks: Closely follow WO Travelers, interpret technical documents and CAD drawings to develop successful machining plans.
• Set up machinery: Install and adjust chucks, tools, attachments, and other components; indicate vices and tram heads.
• Load machinery: Position stock using appropriate lifting methods including overhead cranes.
• Verify settings: Measure positions, inspect first-run parts, and ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Maintain specifications: Observe and measure operations, troubleshoot processes, adjust controls, and replace worn tools as required.
• Adhere to safety protocols: Follow safety procedures and regulations to maintain safe operations.
• Perform equipment maintenance: Complete preventive maintenance tasks by following manufacturers' instructions and daily maintenance of equipment to keep in optimal operating condition.
• Maintain accurate time keeping: Accurately clock on and off operations using bar code scanners to record real time costs in our ERP system.
• Support organizational goals: Take ownership of new requests and identify opportunities to enhance job performance.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Vocational training or apprenticeship in machining
• Experience with CNC Mills and Lathes
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing machine shop
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and work orders

Hours are full time, Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm with potential for over time. Pay range is $22-$30/hr. depending on experience.
