Job summary

Job description

Summary

Position requires knowledge of standard machine tool practices in order to set up and process machine details.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Machines parts from detail prints to close tolerance.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints of mechanical engineering drawings and customer specifications to generate accurate machining of weldments, fabrications, and details.
  • Executes set ups on all tool room equipment including maintenance of the equipment and cutting tools.
  • Must be proficient in the use of miscellaneous cutting tools and materials including but not limited to carbide, tool steels, ceramics, and nitrite coatings.
  • Must be proficient in the use of standard tool room machinery, including bridgeports, surface grinders, lathe, etc.
  • Maintains basis understanding of metallurgical compositions in ferrous, nonferrous, and plastic materials in relation to machining, and heat treating processed and procedures.
  • Uses and prepares precision measuring equipment including, micrometers, dial indicators, gage block, sine plate, etc.
  • Generates reports, tooling and machinery maintenance records and schedules.
  • Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns.
  • Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Practical organizational skills necessary.
Education And/or Experience

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one‑year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
