Job summary

Dover Hydraulics, a SunSource company, is seeking an experienced machinist to operate machine tools and produce precision metal parts in small and large batches. Candidates should be proficient with CNC lathe and manual milling, read blueprints, and ensure parts meet exact specifications.

Responsibilities include setting up lathes and milling machines, verifying tolerances, and maintaining tooling and machine health in a safety-conscious shop environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years machining experience.
• Experience with CNC lathe and manual milling is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
• Follows safety guidelines and quality standards.
• Proficient in using hand tools and measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Record start and stop times in the Job Tracking System (DATS).
• Operate lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce metal parts.
• Review blueprints or specifications for a job.
• Calculate where to cut or bore and set feed rates.
• Shape various materials including steel, aluminum, titanium, plastics and more.
• Determine cutting speed and feed for workpieces.
• Select tools and materials for each job.
• Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.
• Mark work pieces to indicate cut locations.
• Position work pieces on machine tools.
• Monitor and control feed rate and speed to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure proper lubrication and cooling of the work piece.
• Regulate temperature during machining.
• Detect issues by listening for unusual sounds.
• Adjust speeds to compensate for vibrations.
• Quality check against blueprints and specs.

The role of the position is primarily operating machine tools to produce precision metal parts in both small batches and large quantities while meeting precision specifications. Machinists who are experienced with both CNC Lathe and Manual machining are ideal candidates

Responsibilities

• Accurately record start and stop times in our Job Tracking System (DATS)
• Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce metal parts.
• Review electronic or written blueprints or specifications for a job.
• Calculate where to cut or bore.
• Shape steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, silicon and other materials.
• Determine how fast or slow workpiece is fed into machine.
• Determine how much material to remove.
• Select tools and materials for the job.
• Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.
• Mark the work piece to show where cuts should be made.
• Position work piece on the drill press, lathe, or milling machine.
• Monitor and control feed rate and speed.
• Ensure work piece is properly lubricated and/or cooled.
• Regulate temperature of work piece.
• Detect problems by listening for specific sounds.
• Adjust cutting speed to compensate for harmonic vibrations.
• Monitor the accuracy of cuts.
• Replace dull cutting tools.
• Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications.
• Produce large quantities of parts.
• Determine how automated equipment will cut a part.
• Determine cutting path.
• Concert path, speed, and feed information into set of instructions for machine tool.
• Use manual and computer-controlled machinery
• Write basic programs.
• Modify programs in response to problems.
• Follow all DHI safety guidelines and report any accidents or un-safe condition

Requirements

• Min 3 years experience.
• Preferably experience in manual machining and CNC Lathe
