City of Chicago is seeking a Machinist for the Chicago Department of Aviation, CDA- Facilities Section, located at 11601 W. Touhy, Chicago, IL. Typical shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.
This career-service role is open to the public and current city employees under the Machinists Local 126 contract. The position requires journey-level machining expertise, relevant apprenticeships, and the ability to read blueprints, set up machines, fabricate parts, and perform precision inspections.

This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City's Collective Bargaining Agreement with Machinists - Local 126 (Bargaining Unit 36). Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE
This position does not require an interview, this position requires candidates to pass a written job knowledge exam. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after test results have been analyzed and compiled. Bid candidates who pass the test will be hired in seniority order External candidates will be hired in lottery/random order.
