Job summary

Enprotech Industrial is seeking a Machining/Welding Supervisor to coordinate shop floor activities in our machine shop and welding teams. You will ensure safe, cost-effective, on-time production while meeting quality standards and supervising hourly team members responsible for on-time delivery.

The role requires an associates degree or equivalent, 5+ years supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing, blueprint reading, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent technical schooling required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • 5-7 years of related work experience.

  • Leads with a safety-first culture and champions safety and housekeeping improvements.
  • Directly manages CNC machinists and welders.
  • Manages and schedules department to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of shop floor resources.
  • Reviews all new jobs with engineering and departmental teams.
  • Accounts for accurate direct and indirect time and provides information for critical plant KPI’s.

Job Description

Position Summary & Objective

The Machining/Welding Supervisor is responsible to coordinate the shop floor activities within the machine shop and welding teams to ensure products are produced safely, cost-effectively, and on-time while meeting all quality standards. This position has direct supervision for the hourly team members who are responsible for on-time delivery of finished products.

Essential Functions Performed by the Position

  • Leads with a safety-first culture and champions all safety and housekeeping improvement activities/programs while being proactive in eliminating potential safety hazards and unsafe behavior.
  • Ensures near miss, incident reports, and investigations happen in a timely manner.
  • Directly manages the activities of CNC machinists and welders.
  • Assists Engineering with scope of work, including providing details on the inventory parts used during the machining and welding process.
  • Ensures safety and quality procedures are followed.
  • Manages and schedules department team members to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of the shop floor resources.
  • Approves scheduled overtime for hourly team members.
  • Reviews all new jobs with engineering team and the departmental team members.
  • Manages the required resources for emergency and non-standard jobs as needed.
  • Accountable for accurate record keeping of direct and indirect time.
  • Provides information for critical plant KPI’s.
  • Monitors the consumption of consumable supplies to ensure the production operation is meeting the forecasted budget.
  • Monitors the proper care and condition of all machines, tools, equipment, facilities, and other physical assets and works with the Plant Manager to determine the need for replacement or repair.
  • Assesses, trains, and coaches team members as needed to improve the sites overall performance and contribution to the company’s success.
  • Consistently enforces team member compliance with safety, work rules, company policies and procedures, and standards.
  • Communicate all discrepancies to the proper management personnel.
  • Responsible for reviewing and evaluating the performance of hourly team members within the machine shop and welding teams.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent technical school degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • 5-7 years of related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledgeable in industrial safety standards and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects of varying degrees of difficulty at one time.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience with machining, welding, disassembly, and assembly of industrial equipment and components.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Must have strong listening skills and be able to make decisions quickly.
  • Must be a good communicator with effective team member relation skills.
  • Ability to use handheld measuring tools and instruct staff on using math and measuring tools.
