Job summary

Precision Fuzing and Sensors in Middletown, CT is seeking a Machine Shop Operator I to perform finishing operations on close-tolerance parts under limited supervision. You will set up tools, deburr and perform secondary operations including drilling, tapping, sand blasting, and passivation to achieve required finishes.

The role emphasizes adherence to blueprints, use of 5S/Lean methods, and ongoing inspection to ensure conformance. Shift: 1st, Monday–Friday, 6:30am–3:00pm.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Familiarity with shop practices, inspection and safety.

Responsibilities

• Work under supervision to perform finishing operations on machined parts with close tolerances.
• Apply 5S and Lean Manufacturing in daily activities.
• Read blueprints and work instructions; set up tools and machinery for deburr and secondary operations.
• Perform deburring, polishing, grinding, and buffing to meet finish specs.
• Set up and operate drill presses for drilling, tapping and counter-bore operations.
• Perform general shop work including drilling, machining and sanding.
• Obtain and maintain certification for Passivation and abrasive blasting.
• Inspect pieces to ensure conformance per operator acceptance program.

Machine Shop Operator I

Precision Fuzing and Sensors is actively hiring for a Machine Shop Operator I in Middletown, CT. This role requires experience finishing operations in a production environment. The Machine Shop Operator I will be working under the direction of the Group Leader with limited supervision, responsible for using a variety of set up tools and machinery to perform hand deburring, drilling, tapping, sand blasting, tumble deburring, and passivation finishing processes at close tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of the Group Leader, and with limited supervision, perform various finishing operations on a variety of machined parts having close tolerance specifications.
• Employ 5S and Lean Manufacturing skills in everyday work practices.
• Work from blueprints and verbal/written work instructions, set up tools and machinery needed to perform deburr and secondary operations on piece parts. This includes but is not limited to hand deburring, drilling, tapping, sand blasting, tumble deburring, and Passivation (Stainless Steel cleaning process).
• Perform repetitive deburring, polishing, grinding, and buffing operations on standard piece parts to achieve finish specifications.
• Set up, adjust and operate various types of drill press equipment to perform difficult and intricate drilling, tapping and counter-bore operations.
• Perform general shop work such as drilling, machining and sanding.
• Obtain and maintain certification to perform Passivation, abrasive blasting, and Molykote or Dry Film Lube application.
• Examine and inspect piece parts to ensure conformance to specifications as per operator acceptance program (OAP).
