AI Talent Hope is seeking a Mechanical and Machining Engineer for an on-site role in Knoxville, TN. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience, including 5+ years in mechanical design and machine shop work, and expertise in SolidWorks and MasterCAM to develop in-house tooling and precision parts.
You will review drawings for manufacturability, address quality issues, and drive tooling development, equipment installation, and process improvements in a nuclear-oriented environment.
We are looking for a Mechanical and Machining Engineer with 6+ years of experience to develop in-house machining capability and deliver high-quality precision parts. You will design and machine production tooling, fixturing, and finished part prototypes for components serving a critical function in nuclear reactors. You will provide input into the design and development of new products and take a lead role in production and prototype tooling and finish machining. You will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop novel solutions at the forefront of nuclear technology.
Develop machining capability in-house and deliver high-quality precision parts to the Quality department
Design and machine production tooling/fixturing and finished part prototypes
Analyze customer part drawings for DFM to ensure parts are optimized for manufacturing
Review quality concerns from piece part inspections and develop solutions
Identify, recommend, procure, and install machine shop equipment; ensure all equipment is thoroughly maintained and calibrated
Responsible for cost optimization and cost reduction initiatives associated with machining processes
Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing and machining methodologies and techniques
Collaborate with external machine shop facilities to address capacity and scheduling issues as necessary
Ceramic machining processes (wire EDM, diamond grinding, CNC milling)
Well versed in standard machine shop manufacturing processes and setups
Experience with CNC machining, programming, CMMS, tooling, troubleshooting, setup
Experience setting up and operating state-of-the-art machining equipment
Experience operating CNCs, conventional lathe and mill machines, and other machine shop equipment used to manufacture high-precision parts
Demonstrated proficiency in CNC programming
Well versed in GD&T and inspection procedures
Experience with precision conventional and advanced metrology systems (CMMs, 3D imaging)
Ceramic machining experience (HARD requirement)
Wire EDM, diamond grinding, and CNC milling expertise
SolidWorks and MasterCAM proficiency
