Job description

Description

This position is currently filled, however we are accepting applications for Ready Replacement Pool consideration.

Prevailance is seeking an experienced and mission-focused professional to support the Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command (SWESC) and PMS 339 Specialized Engineering as a Machinery Repairman Contractor Instructor. This role provides critical services in instruction, curriculum updates and maintenance, testing, remediation, administration, safety, and management for formalized naval training. The position supports SWESC and PMS 339 at the Engineering Learning Site (ELS) Norfolk, VA, delivering high-quality technical and military training to enlisted personnel from the U.S. and allied navies.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare classrooms, workstations, and labs, ensuring proper setup of equipment and availability of instructional materials before instruction.
  • Perform operational checks on training equipment, devices, and aids.
  • Identify and report deficiencies in training equipment, devices, and instructional aids, including maintenance issues, with written recommendations to the Training Authority (TA) and Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
  • Maintain inventory of instructional materials and student forms required for specific courses.
  • Submit formal reports documenting material discrepancies that impact course delivery.
  • Support upgrades and improvements to instructional programs as needed.

Instructor Qualifications:

  • Graduate of the Navy Instructor Training Course (CIN: A-012-0077) (NEC 9502) OR an equivalent instructor training course.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of technical experience in the subject matter area.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a military training environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of learning principles, course content delivery, testing, remediation, curriculum, training aids, and equipment associated with the course.

Technical Qualifications:

  • Former Senior (E5–E9) Surface Ship Machinery Repairman (MR).
  • Extensive knowledge of safety, operation, and maintenance of heavy machinery tooling, shipboard precision grinding, and advanced milling tools/techniques.
  • Qualified to teach the following NETC courses (MR Pipeline):
    • A-702-0022 Precision Grinding.
    • A-702-0023 Heavy Machinery Operator.
    • A-702-0024 Advanced Milling.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain a favorable background investigation.
