Caterpillar Inc. in Channelview, TX is seeking a Machine Tool Technician A to lead repair, maintenance and alignment of precision machine tools including CNCs, robotic systems and machine centers.

You will troubleshoot malfunctions, interpret PLC operations, and ensure work aligns with manufacturer tolerances. The role requires strong hands-on skills, 7+ years of experience, and the ability to lead projects from planning through testing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associates Degree or equivalent Industrial Technology Certification is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of machine tool controllers, ladder logic coding and diagnostic test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all Environmental, Health and Safety programs and guidelines.
• Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair precision machine tool malfunctions.
• Understand PLC operations and coding.
• Lead and plan disassembly, repair, and reassembly of machine components.
• Record and document all changes to machine tools and parts.

Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.**POSITION OBJECTIVE:**Perform the duties required and/or assigned to the Maintenance Department. **NATURE AND SCOPE:**To lead and perform the repair, maintenance and alignment of precision industrial machine tools (i.e.Computer Numerical Controls (CNC), semi and automatic machines, robotic, machine centers, etc). **PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:**1. Comply with all company Environmental, Health and Safety programs, OSHA regulations,manufacturer recommendations, and industry standard guidelines.2. Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair precision industrial machine tool malfunctions.3. Understand Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) operations and coding.4. Determine the sequence of operations, procedures, and methods necessary to perform skilledmaintenance functions such as repairs, preventive maintenance (PM), and modification ofprecision industrial machine tools.5. Lead and plan the electrical and mechanical disassemble, reassemble, repair, and replacement formachine components (i.e. bearings, shafts, gears, spindles, controls, drives, etc). Record anddocument all changes to precision industrial machine tools.6. Lead projects to perform functional and diagnostic tests to determine root cause of malfunctionsand recommend repairs to established manufacturer’s tolerances.7. Lead projects to perform repairs, maintenance and alignment checks in all machine axis planes.8. Determine required replacement parts using machine tool drawings and operator manuals.9. Follow manufacturer specifications, prints and manuals to determine machine tool requirements.10. Utilize Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking work orders and PMs.11. Maintain a clean and organized work area and comply with company housekeeping procedures.12. Proper use of hand-tools, power tools, electrical, and electronic test equipment.13.
