Job Summary

Printpack is seeking a Machinist for the Machine Support Services (MSS) Shop located in Villa Rica, GA. This role reports to the MSS Supervisor.

Location & Schedule

Location: Villa Rica, GA. Shop schedule: M‑F 6:30am – 3:00pm. Flexible schedule possible for field projects, may include overtime, nights, weekends.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $28.04 – $42.06 per hour (+$3.00 travel premium).

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with machine shop equipment including 3‑axis vertical mill, lathe, surface grinder, band saw.
• Experience with CNC lathe programming, set‑up, and operations.
• Understanding of G‑&M code programming.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Willingness to respond to off‑hours problems.
• Ability to maintain shop equipment.
• Ability to work individually and in a team environment to complete required tasks.
• Must be able to travel up to 25%, sometimes on short notice.
• Willingness to learn field service tasks: drum repair, drum resurfacing, optical alignment, machine installation and rigging.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, ability to obtain a passport.
• Must be able to safely perform assigned tasks at elevated heights.

Preferred Skills

• Welding experience.
• Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems.
• Mastercam software experience.
• Experience with Okuma machine tools.

Internal Applicant Requirements

• Must not have disciplinary action in last 120 days.
• Must have received "Performer" or higher on last performance review.
• Must have been in current position at least 120 days and cannot be on probation.
• Must not be on a Performance Improvement Plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CNC controlled machinery.
• Measure dimensions within tolerances for the fabrication of machine parts and equipment specifications.
• Maintain machine and equipment alignment.
• Familiarize with different metal and steel types and their compatibility in machining applications.
• Promote maintenance and total plant safety.
• Maintain employee morale and promote active communication within the department.
• Provide technical knowledge to troubleshoot production issues.
