Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Georgia is seeking a Machine Assistant – Stacker to join our packaging manufacturing team. You will support the operation of fast-paced equipment, perform quality checks, and help with setup and jam-resolution while maintaining a clean work area.

This role is onsite on 2nd and 3rd shifts (11p-7a) with overtime and weekend coverage as needed. We value safety, learning, and the ability to read manuals, measure with a tape, and work collaboratively to keep production flowing

Qualifications

• Ability to read materials to understand manuals and procedures.
• Must wear PPE and follow safety guidelines.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform basic measurements.
• Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and operate equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform task range supporting manufacturing areas, production, quality checks, material setup, and keep workspace clean.
• Support operation of a fast-paced packaging manufacturing facility.
• Assist machine operators with setups and jam-ups; ensure tooling is on hand.
• Keep work area free of debris and learn processes to advance within the company.

MACHINE ASSISTANT - STACKER

Shift: 2nd & 3rd shift M-F 11p-7a overtime and weekends as needed or 2nd shift M-F 3p-11p

Onsite, non-climate-controlled

• Primary job duties will include but are not limited to safely performing a wide range of tasks supporting the manufacturing areas, production, conducting quality checks, material setup, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safely, demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes and operating complex machinery, and have a desire to advance within the company.

• The Manufacturing Helper is normally the third team member assigned to a machine in the Production.
• Being able to support operators on different machinery while assisting different areas as needed.
• Some of the duties of this position include, but are not limited to ensuring that all tooling for the machine is on hand, assisting the machine operator and assistant operator with setups and jam-ups, ensuring that the area surrounding the machine is kept clean of debris and spills

What you need to succeed

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English
• Ability to read materials to understand and apply content, such as instruction manuals, procedure manuals or assembly manuals
• Able to read a tape measure and perform basic math
• Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and other safety gear as required (We will provide any necessary PPE.)
• Ability to stand and walk continuously with occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, climbing, and grasping
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment (hot or cold)
