American Greetings is seeking a Machine Specialist for 2nd and 3rd shifts to adjust and monitor machines efficiently, ensuring high-speed, high-quality greeting cards. You will interpret overlays, measure to 1/64 inch, and troubleshoot as needed to maintain safe operations.

The role requires the ability to perform 1/64 inch measurements, train new operators, and keep accurate machine logs while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in Manufacturing.
  • High School or equivalent.
  • Must pass a mechanical, mathematical, and measurement test.

Responsibilities

  • Set up a safe, efficient operation of 10+ types of machinery.
  • Perform minor repairs with maintenance/technician guidance; assist in repair/overhaul.
  • Perform stock work and check inbound/outbound stock; use banding tools/hand trucks/walkie stackers.
  • Conduct visual quality checks and maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain production orders and machine logs as required.
  • Ensure good housekeeping and orderly material/equipment arrangement.
  • Perform measurements to 1/64 inch and calculate accordingly.
  • Train new operators as assigned.

Job Description
Machine Specialist (2nd and 3rd shifts)

Efficiently and safely adjusts machines to produce greeting cards at the highest speed and quality possible. Interprets the overlays from the overlays, makes required measurements (to 1/64"), and adjusts machines accordingly. Trouble shoots machine as required to ensure safe operation. Clean machines as needed to prolong machine life. Advises coordinator of quality or output problems when they can't be immediately resolved and understands SAFETY is our main goal.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible to set up a safe, efficient, operation of 10 or more types of machinery.
  • Makes minor repairs, as outlined by maintenance and/or mechanical technician. Will assist maintenance as required in the repair of overhaul of machines in assigned area. Responsible for keeping machines clean and in good mechanical condition.
  • Performs stock work as assigned. Checks for proper identification on inbound and outbound stock in assigned area. Required to use banding tools, hand trucks, and power walkie stackers.
  • Makes necessary visual quality checks as specified by procedure, and other special checks as assigned. To be alert and quality conscious at all times and strive to produce the best quality product possible.
  • Maintains production orders and machine logs as operation requires.
  • Responsible for good housekeeping and orderly arrangement of materials and equipment in assigned area.
  • Must be able to perform average mathematical calculations and accurately determine measurements down to 1/64th of an inch.
  • Trains new operators as assigned.

Experience Required

1 year experience working in Manufacturing.

Education Required

Required Education:

High School or equivalent

Must be able to pass a mechanical, mathematical, and measurement test.
