Job summary

Tolomatic, Inc. is seeking a Machine Shop Support Technician (Grinding & Swiss) to create and maintain cylindrical grinding and Swiss CNC programs, setup instructions, and update existing programs using CAM software.

You will document tooling and setup procedures to maximize part changeovers and lead small projects for continuous improvement. You will collaborate with Design Engineering, Machinists and Inspectors, mentor team members, and help select materials, tooling and machines to adopt the

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 2 years of technical training in machine tool technology or a related field.
• Experience in programming turning operations with emphasis on Grinding and Swiss operations is required.
• MasterCAM Mill experience a plus.
• CAD (Solidworks) in CAM programming desired.
• Setup and operation of CNC Grinding and Swiss centers.
• Mentor and lead projects and group activities.
• Analyze data and present summaries to justify changes.
• Communicate with Design Engineering, Machinists, Operators and Inspectors; team oriented.
• Use Excel and ERP to track consumables and maintenance.

About You

• Associate’s degree or 2 years of technical training in machine tool technology or a related field.
• Experience in programming turning operations and with an emphasis on Grinding and Swiss operations is required.
• MasterCAM Mill experience a plus.
• Ability to efficiently utilize CAD (Solidworks) in creation of CAM programs desired.
• Ability to perform complete setup and operation of a wide range of CNC Grinding and Swiss machining centers.
• Ability to mentor and lead projects and other group activities.
• Ability to analyze data and present summaries to justify process, tooling or machine changes.
• Ability to effectively communicate with Design Engineering, Machinists, Machine Operators and Inspection personnel. Capable of working in a team environment.
• Ability to use excel and ERP software to track and monitor consumable items and maintenance frequencies.

Primary Objective

To create and maintain cylindrical grinding and Swiss CNC programs, setup instructions, and update existing CNC programs using the latest CAM software package. To document tooling and setup procedures to maximize the ability of the Machine Operators and Machinists to perform part‑to‑part changeovers. To lead small projects and groups for continuous improvement efforts. To assist with material, tooling and machine selection processes to drive continuous improvements and obtain equipment with the latest technology. To be the Project Leader for new equipment selection and implementation; specifically, focusing on Grinding and Swiss machine applications.
