Job summary

West Star Aviation Inc. is seeking a Machine Shop Supervisor for our Grandview, TX facility. The role oversees machinists and programmers, coordinates resources, and ensures on-time delivery while upholding quality and safety standards.

Leadership, communication, and hands-on machining experience are essential. Responsibilities include process improvement, training, and collaboration with Planning, Quality, and Manufacturing to resolve issues and maintain FAA and AS9100 compliance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of machining experience including manual and CNC operations.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and machining processes.
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing and FAA Part 145 Repair Station.
  • Experience with AS9100 Quality Management System.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily activities of machinists, programmers, and support personnel.
  • Coordinate manpower and machine resources to meet production schedules.
  • Monitor workflow and production priorities to support on-time delivery objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, drawings, work instructions, and process specifications.
  • Provide technical support for manual and CNC machining, setup, tooling, and work holding.
  • Support setup, troubleshooting, and resolution of machining issues.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices in the shop.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and development.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of shop personnel.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Quality, and Manufacturing to resolve issues.
  • Monitor machine utilization and shop performance metrics.
  • Maintain equipment and tooling, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Communicate effectively in English.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including
  • Supervise daily activities of machinists, programmers, and support personnel.

What You’ll Need To Bring With You
Your Education

A High school diploma or equivalent required.

Your Experience
  • 5+ years of machining experience, including manual and CNC machining operations.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of manual lathes, manual mills, CNC mills, and CNC lathes.
  • Experience with Hurco and/or Fanuc-controlled equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Experience troubleshooting machining and manufacturing issues.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Aerospace manufacturing and/or FAA Part 145 Repair Station experience.
  • Experience working within an AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam.
  • Experience supporting AS9102 First Article Inspections.
  • Experience managing low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.

  • Completion of work orders, FAA paperwork.
