Job summary

Ohmstede Ltd. is seeking a skilled individual to assist in staging materials and personnel to maximize production on the shop floor. Under the direction of the Machine Shop Foreman, you will help coordinate resources and ensure a smooth workflow.

Key duties include assigning personnel and material to meet production requirements, notifying foreman of consumables, updating work assignments, and supporting safety and quality initiatives on a day-to-day basis.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Mechanic B classification.
• Strong ability to read blueprints and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Assigns personnel and material to assure drilled and machined parts meet production requirements.
• Notifies foreman of consumable and stock material usage.
• Updates scheduled work assignment list as work progresses.
• Reviews time cards to assure accuracy.
• Generates absenteeism slips as necessary.
• Assists in the skills training of co-workers.
• Handles personnel situations as necessary to maintain an orderly-working environment.
• Assures that work is set-up and performed in a safe manner, avoiding all unsafe practices.
• Proactively pursues quality assurance in order to reduce lost time and rework.

Work Environment

Normal shop environment, noisy, dusty, hot, cold, able to stoop, bend, and short climb, requires 50 lb. lifting ability, exposed to fumes and normal shop hazards.
