Job summary

Acument Global Technologies - North America in Grand Blanc, MI is seeking a mechanically inclined individual to set up tooling, program CNC machines, run parts, and perform self-checks for quality.

You will support machine operators on new jobs, read prints, select tools, maintain tooling inspection, and contribute to first-time quality and on-time delivery during changeovers.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to machine operators on new job development.
• Operate Tool Room equipment with limited supervision; meet quality and productivity requirements.
• Read manufacturing and tooling prints; select and prepare tools to meet tolerances.
• Use toolroom inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.).
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area and follow safety guidelines.
• Perform preventative maintenance as required.
• Program and set up CNC machines.
• Knowledge of turning, milling, drilling, and boring tooling.
• Responsible for own inspection of tooling.
• Apply strong mathematical and problem solving skills.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Summary Of The Job

This position is for a mechanically inclined individual who possesses a positive attitude and desire to continuous improvement. This position requires setting up all tooling for machines, program, run, and perform their own quality checks.

This person will be a key player in ensuring first time quality and delivery change over components to the headers. The Tool/Pack Room will work toward ensuring on-time delivery and first time quality of changeover components to the headers during changeovers.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to machine operators on new job development
• Ability to operate Tool Room equipment with limited supervision to meet necessary quality and productivity requirements. Horizontal, vertical hones, OD/ID grinders, surface grinders, centerless, and polishing.
• Ability to read most manufacturing and tooling prints, select and prepare necessary tools to meet print tolerances.
• Utilize Toolroom inspection equipment - micrometers, calipers, indicators, contour tracers, microscope, and comparators.
• Maintains cleanliness of work area.
• Follows company safety guidelines.
• Performs preventative maintenance when required.
• Programming and setup of CNC machines.
• Knowledge of tools to perform turning, milling, drilling, and boring.
• Responsible for own inspection of tooling.
• Strong Mathematical and problem solving skills.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Basic computer skills using Google Workspace (sheets, docs, drive, chat, Gmail, etc.)
• Solid math skills
• Mechanically inclined, shop classes or manufacturing process training is required
• Basic problem solving skills Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems
