Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. is seeking candidates to join a waitlist for a Machine Operator position at our Portland plant. The role requires safe operation of machinery, setup, troubleshooting, and ensuring production quality.

Shift availability includes day and swing shifts with 8–10 hour shifts, Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays. Starting pay is $20/hour with a $0.50 swing shift differential.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of recent experience as a Machine Operator.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to solve simple mathematical equations involving percentages.
• Ability to work in a cold or warm environment, depending on line and machine.
• Comfortable with doing a very physical job with lots of movement and heavy lifting.
• High levels of attention to detail.
• Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Effectively and efficiently perform the safe operation of various machinery in the areas of set-up, troubleshooting and breakdown during operation.
• In a timely manner, set up, start-up and break down during the beginning and end of all production shifts.
• Must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot effectively in order to minimize production downtime.
• Regularly make adjustments necessary to maximize production machine efficiency and communicate improvements to team members and key departments.
• Reduce downtime by identifying mechanical issues and reporting to Leads or Supervisors.
• Operate other equipment necessary in the production process.
• Practice and follow all GMPs at all times during production.

The Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring machines are working at full capacity while producing quality product. Machine operators make sure machines are well‑maintained and perform periodic checks on output, visually inspect production run and document results, and determine and report malfunctions to appropriate parties while maintaining cleanliness of equipment and assigned area.

We offer day or swing shifts. Schedules are typically Monday Friday with occasional Saturdays. 8‑10 hour shifts.

Starting pay is $20/hour + $0.50 shift differential for swing shift.

• Practice and follow all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices) at all times during production.
