Job summary

HM DUNN AEROSYSTEMS 1 in Wichita, KS seeks a full-time Stretch Press Operator to set up and operate a stretch press for bending and forming aluminum aerospace components per work orders and drawings.

You will ensure safety, quality, and efficiency, including dies changes, tool alignment, and inspection of parts, while maintaining proper documentation and conforming to AS9100 and customer specifications.

Qualifications

• Read and understand work instructions, blueprints, drawings, and specifications in English.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations and interpret measurements.
• Use basic measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Safely operate machinery and hand tools following procedures.
• Follow established safety procedures, work instructions, and production schedules.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and positive working environment.
• Set stops on machine bed, change dies, and adjust components.
• Operate stretch press according to specifications.
• Position die sets into ram and bed using hoist, crane, and gauges.
• Align and secure gears, fixtures, and dies to machine bed.

• Lubricate stretch press and perform routine maintenance.

Summary: Set up and operate stretch press machine to bend and form metal as specified by work order, blueprints drawing, or layout.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and positive working environment
• Sets stops on machine bed, changes dies, and adjusts components.
• Operates stretch press according to specifications.
• Selects and positions flat, block, radius, or special purpose die sets into ram and bed of machine, using hoist, crane, measuring instruments, and hand tools.
• Installs, aligns, and secures gears, holding fixtures, dies to machine bed, using gauges, and/or templates, and hand tools.
• Inspects workpiece for defects.
• Lifts, positions, and secures workpiece between dies of machine using crane.
• Lubricates stretch press.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, machine operation, fabrication, or aerospace experience.
• Previous experience operating a stretch press or similar forming equipment.
• Experience working with aluminum sheet metal or other aerospace materials.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing and quality practices.
• Previous experience working from aerospace specifications or customer requirements.
