Job summary

Westlake Pipe & Fittings in Janesville, WI is hiring for an Operator role in a heavy manufacturing environment. The position follows a 2/2/3 rotation with 12-hour shifts and roughly 50% of the year worked.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting Pay: $22.13–$25.05 based on experience. Skill‑Based Learning – Earn up to $29.12/hour within the first year.

Work Schedule: 2/2/3 Rotation with 12‑hour shifts – you only work 50 % of the year.

Duties and Responsibilities

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Operation of automated extrusion lines, including loading gaskets and packaging end product for shipment
• Eye for detail, visually inspect product for quality assurance purposes
• Analytical with a passion for math and measurements; measure and record pipe dimensions as required; take the proper action according to SPC charting
• Problem solver, control dimensions to maintain pipe specifications with direct supervision
• Operate equipment and drive forklifts to move bundled pipe from the work area (scrap and good product)
• Own the process of making quality PVC pipe; assist in production line start‑up activities and changeovers
• Maintain high safety standards both personally and in the workplace
• Great with hand tools; cut and band scrap as directed
• Take pride in a clean and organized work environment
• Report any equipment malfunctions, product defects or unsafe conditions immediately
• Work independently and as part of a team – Operator position offers both individual and team responsibilities

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; no prior experience required

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The job involves stooping, kneeling or crouching. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lb, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lb, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lb. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Typical work environment includes moving mechanical parts, extreme cold and extreme heat, occasional outside weather conditions, and typically loud noise levels. The employee may receive reasonable accommodations to perform essential functions.
