Job description

Position summary

Set up, operate, or tend equipment to control chemical changes or reactions In the processing of industrial or consumer products.

Tasks
  • Adjust controls to regulate weight, temperature, pressure, feed, or flow of chemicals and times of prescribed reactions, according to knowledge of equipment and processes.
  • Observe production and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Monitor gauges, recording instruments, flowmeters, or products to ensure that specified conditions are maintained.
  • Control or operate equipment in which chemical changes or reactions take place during the processing of industrial or consumer products.
  • Measure, weigh, and mix chemical ingredients, according to
  • Transfer materials, supplies, and products between work areas, using moving equipment and hand tools.
  • Patrol work areas to detect leaks or equipment malfunctions or to monitor operating
  • Draw samples of products at specified stages so that analyses can be performed by Quality
  • Record operational and production data such as temperatures, pressures, ingredients used, processing times, or test results on specified forms.
  • Notify maintenance personnel and supervisor of equipment
  • Repair of piping obstructions (liquid or )
  • Open valves or start pumps, agitators, reactors, blowers, or automatic feed of
  • Read plant specifications to determine products, ingredients, or prescribed modifications of plant procedures.
  • Drain equipment and pump water or other solutions through to flush and clean tanks or
  • Troubleshoot and make minor repairs, lubricate, and maintain equipment, using hand
  • Stage and load raw materials for dry process
  • Sagger handling machine operation and
  • Line saggers at sagger conveyor
  • Load and unload sagger carts
  • Fill supersacks with intermediate product and label bags as required
  • Stacking intermediate supersacks correctly
  • Uses hoist to move raw materials, intermediate, and finished
  • Clean equipment for in process and grade change clean-out
  • Check and set equipment for campaign start up
  • Loading and staging intermediate bags to load into T-301 tank
  • Loading rework material into specified tanks
  • Stamping and labeling finished goods bags as specified in the Finished Goods Packaging Procedure
  • Daily scale weight check
  • Set up finished goods bags (clear poly bags inside of brown craft bags) to fill with finished
  • Fill bags with finished goods and weigh bag to ensure it meets the specs for bag weight
  • Remove air and seals poly bags
  • Sew seams on bags to seal the finished product bags
  • Stack finished good bags neatly onto pallets
  • Operate DCS and complete required production documents
  • Daily cleaning of work area, warehouse, and equipment
  • Records the operating conditions and problems, report information to the shift
Skills & Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely and be vigilant in their awareness of their surroundings and operation of machinery
  • Must be able to operate a sewing machine to seal product
  • Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or
  • Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Must be able to navigate through the machine computer
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about
  • Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred.
  • Forklift driving experience – 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (12 hour shifts)
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb
  • Must be able to lift over 40 lbs. frequently
  • Must be able to work in a hot and cold environment
