Job summary

Delta Steel is seeking a Machine Operator to support our processing operations. The role offers a day schedule (Mon-Fri, 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM) with a night shift differential, overtime opportunities, eligibility for a monthly profit incentive, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Operators will set up, operate, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment including press brakes, plate burning machines (plasma and oxy-fuel), conveyors, transfer tables, and material handling systems to process steel

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience operating manufacturing or metal processing equipment preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in a steel service center or fabrication environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, instructions, and specifications.
  • Ability to use basic math and measurement skills accurately.
  • Experience using measuring tools (tape measure, micrometers).
  • Experience operating overhead crane (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot assigned machinery including: press brake machines, plate burning machines, conveyors and transfer tables.
  • Process steel products according to work orders, ensuring correct size, position and tolerance.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust settings for production efficiency.
  • Record and report production data, quality issues, and decisions; escalate to supervisor when needed.
  • Read and follow written work instructions, work orders and specifications.
  • Operate remote-controlled overhead cranes to move and position steel materials as needed.
  • Load, unload, move, and stage materials; maintain clean, safe work areas.

This position offers a day schedule (Monday-Friday, 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM) and includes a night shift differential, overtime opportunities, eligibility for a monthly profit incentive, and a comprehensive benefits package. Operators will set up, operate, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment including press brakes, plate burning machines (plasma and oxy-fuel), conveyors, transfer tables, and material handling systems to process steel products. Ensure all materials are produced to required size, position, and tolerance specifications outlined in work orders while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Job Function

Set up, operate, and troubleshoot assigned machinery including:Press brake machinesPlate burning machines (plasma and oxy-fuel)Conveyors and transfer tablesProcess steel products according to work orders, ensuring compliance with position, size, and tolerance requirementsPerform first-piece and in-process inspections to meet quality standards and customer specificationsMonitor machine performance and adjust settings to maintain production efficiency and accuracySolve production process issues and make necessary equipment adjustmentsRecord and report production data, quality issues, and decisions made; escalation concerns to supervisor as neededRead, understand, and follow written work instructions, work orders, and specificationsOperate remote-controlled overhead cranes to move and position steel materials (as needed)Load, unload, move, and stage materials to appropriate work areas or storage locationsOrganize materials and maintain efficient workflow in production areasUse manual hand tools (e.g., wrenches, clamps) to set up and adjust machineryUse measuring devices such as tape measures and micrometers to verify product accuracyApply basic math skills to measurements and layoutsMaintain accurate documentation related to production and inventoryPerform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concernsFollow and enforce all workplace safety rules, procedures, and regulationsMaintain a clean and safe work environmentAssist with other warehouse, processing, or maintenance duties as assigned by supervisorCross-train and perform other job functions when primary duties are not required.
