Job summary

M&M Quality Grinding, a Hodgkins, IL manufacturer, is seeking a Machine Operator #1 to help ensure our precision grinding processes meet strict quality and efficiency standards and support on-time delivery. You will select, place, and secure tools, load fixtures, start machines, monitor performance, and verify gauges to ensure parts conform to specifications while following safety procedures.

The role fits a hands-on individual who understands grinding mechanics, can follow written instructions,

Qualifications

• Understand mechanics of grinding, straightening & saw machines.
• Ability to follow written instructions.
• Ability to follow property safety procedures.
• Ability to determine whether grinding machine is working properly based on specification for expectation such as fixture, grinding speeds, and grinding rates

Responsibilities

• Select, places, and secure tools.
• Place and secure workpieces in proper machine table.
• Prepare fixtures and feeding devices, starts machine, and engages feed.
• Observe each machine to verify quality performance.
• Verify measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers are in proper working order.
• Set and adjust necessary controls to regulate machines.
• Sharpens tools with bench grinder as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk, stand, sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel parts. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with appropriate assistance. Must be able to be on feet (not sitting).

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Ear protection may be required for certain processes. Closed-toed shoes and eye protection are required for all activity on the shop floor.
