Job summary

HID is seeking a Machine Operator III in Austin, Texas to support day-to-day card, printers and/or reader programming, and light maintenance. The role acts as Production Lead, coordinating with the Production Leader and Supervisor to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

You will set up and operate a variety of machines, verify BOMs and requirements, and perform manual production tasks as needed. A high attention to detail and flexibility for overtime are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main production support between production and support areas.
  • Set up and operate automatic and semi-automatic machines.
  • Verify BOMs, programming requirements, product types, artwork and markings.
  • Conduct manual production operations as required.
  • Log and escalate issues to minimize safety, quality, delivery, or cost problems.
  • Ensure Order Management processes are followed for daily delivery goals.
  • Follow SOPs and work instructions for the job function.

As our Machine Operator III, you’ll support HID’s success by:
  • Acting as the point of contact in between production and support areas to resolve day-to-day operational issues.
  • Setting up and operating a variety of automatic and semi-automatic machines.
  • Working collaboratively with peers and internal customers.
  • Setting up and operating a variety of automatic and semi-automatic machines.
  • Verifying BOMs, programming requirements, product types, artwork and markings.
  • Conducting manual production operations as required.
  • Proactively logging and escalating potential issues to minimize safety quality delivery issues and / or operational inefficiencies.
  • Ensuring all Machine Operators have the right material and paperwork for them to perform their job correctly.
  • Ensuring Order Management process is executed correctly to achieve the daily delivery/efficiency.
  • Complying with SOPs and work instruction related to job function
  • Being held accountable to performance standard to ensure output positively contributes to area specific KPI’s (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost).
  • Participating in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performing daily 5s and PM of equipment and surrounding areas as required.
  • Contributing to the culture of continuous improvement by looking for and communicating opportunities to improve performance.
  • Participating in root cause, corrective/preventive action activities as required.
  • Understanding workload for the day and defining the shift hours based on demand.
Your Experience and Background include:
  • Effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.
  • Must possess the ability to work at a fast pace with very high attention to detail.
  • Must have flexibility to work overtime as required (including weekends) and periodically work a different shift.
  • Requires the ability to learn, use and maintain specialized equipment.
  • Accepts and embrace constant change as a necessary factor to success.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience.
  • Must have a high school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity within MS Office applications.
  • Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc.
  • Familiar and able to navigate in Excel.
