Job summary

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking a Machine Operator II – Sheetmetal for our Operations team. This role fabricates sheet metal parts, operates brake presses, lasers, punch presses, and related equipment, and supports upstream departments by supplying needed parts.

Reading blueprints, measuring with rulers and gauges, and performing basic preventative maintenance are essential. You will work cross-functionally in a team-oriented environment, read and follow instructions precisely, and contribute

Responsibilities

  • Operate all equipment in the sheet metal department, including brake presses, lasers, punch presses, sanders, and deburring machines.
  • Fill all part requirements to complete rounds for the kitting department.
  • Read rulers, tape measurers, metal squares, angle finders, protractors, and other measuring instruments.
  • Read and follow written and verbal instructions, read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and tooling.
  • Examine finished work pieces for conformance to specifications using measurements and visual checks.
  • Start machines, adjust controls, and ensure proper operation and calibration.
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Work at different workstations as production needs require.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area; use required safety equipment.

Job Title: Machine Operator II – Sheetmetal

What we are looking for:

Sheet Metal fabricates sheet metal products and equipment. Work may involve setting up and operating machinery to cut, bend, and straighten metal parts to supply our upstream departments with parts they need.

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:
  • Operate all equipment in the sheet metal department, including brake presses, lasers, punch presses, sanders, and deburring machines
  • Fill all part requirements to complete rounds for the kitting department
  • Read rulers, tape measurers, metal squares, angle finders, protractors, and other measuring instruments
  • Read and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work orders
  • Perform appropriate preventative maintenance on equipment and tooling
  • Examine finished work pieces for smoothness, shape, angle, or conformance to specifications and verify dimensions, visually and using hands, rulers, calipers, templates, or gauges
  • Start machines, adjust controls, and make trial cuts to ensure that machinery is operating properly
  • Monitor operations of machines and make adjustments to correct problems and ensure conformance to specifications
  • Work at different workstations as production needs require
  • Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
  • Use proper safety equipment and apparel required for each operation on individual’s product line or work cell
  • Perform other duties as assigned
