Job summary

Mitsubishi Power is seeking a Machine Operator for the Savannah Machinery Works location. The operator reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, and related data to determine tooling, setup procedures, control settings, and machine methods.

CNC operation and manual processes are required to complete specific manufacturing tasks. The role involves verifying that setups and parameters meet engineering specs, performing in-process and post-operation inspections, and maintaining equipment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree or technical certificate preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing or precision mechanical assembly is a plus.
  • Ability to read, interpret blueprints, planning sheets, and technical data.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and planning sheets to determine tooling requirements and setup procedures.
  • Verify operation setup, parameters, and quality specifications.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections to ensure part conformity.
  • Set up machines, perform routine maintenance, and monitor tool performance.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust controls to keep processes within limits.
  • Operate and manage multiple machines and manual processes concurrently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Carry out other duties as required.

Job description

Role Overview

Mitsubishi is seeking a Machine Operator for the Savannah Machinery Works location. The Machine Operator independently reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machine methods and sequences. Specialized knowledge in the area of CNC machine operation as well as manual processes required to complete the specific manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Verify that operation setup, and parameters meet acceptable quality and engineering specifications for the operation being performed.
  • Ability to learn, verify, and complete in process and post operation visual and dimensional inspections to ensure part conformity
  • Complete all aspects of machine and part set up, perform daily, weekly, and other periodic operator performed maintenance as required by the various machines, products, and fixtures being used.
  • Interface with CNC controllers and their programming to load control media, work with others to assist in troubleshooting or improving operational performance, and change and monitor tool performance.
  • Ability to operate and manage and monitor multiple machines and manual processes concurrently. Follow to achieve assigned performance standards
  • Manually enter commands and adjust machine controls within prescribed process limits to correct malfunctions/ensure process remains within control parameters.
  • Complete routine OPM’S as prescribed and maintain a clean and organized work station.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Applicants must be US Citizens of the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
  • Ability to pass routine background check and drug test per company policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree, certificate, or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or precision mechanical assembly environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for quality.
  • Robotic operation experience.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and follow instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to operate and understand using both SAE and Metric units of measure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions (written, spoken, or shown in diagrams) and to solve basic problems with a few variables.
