Job summary

Benchmark Electronics Inc. in Rochester, MN, seeks an entry-level SMT placement operator to run placement equipment and support PCB manufacturing under supervision.

You will read assembly prints, follow instructions, handle basic machines such as Selective Solder, Wave soldering equipment, and manage a clean, safe work area; pre-employment drug screening may be required and safety policies followed.

Qualifications

  • Reads and follows assembly prints, work instructions and specifications.
  • Ability to operate basic entry level machines such as Selective Solder, Wave, Feeder load, Axial/Radial.
  • Pre-employment drug screening may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and follows assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures and specifications used in the manufacture of PCBs and/or systems.
  • May be certified to operate a limited number and variety of basic machines in production.
  • Responds to written and verbal instructions.
  • Obtains certifications on assigned equipment.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and follows all company policies and practices regarding safety and material handling.
  • Uses cross-reference tools available to identify part numbers, descriptions, and vendors; recognizes all part markings including speed and values (ohms).
  • Assists with line changeover.
  • Identifies feeder by size and type in SMT equipment.
  • Demonstrates the use of cross-reference tools available to identify part numbers, descriptions and vendor.
  • Removes hazardous waste at the end of each shift, puts it in waste storage area, checks that labels are present and closes containers when not in use.
  • Continuously maintains a clean machine.
  • May be involved with hazardous waste handling duties.

Job description

Summary

Under close direction of experienced operators or a Production Team Leader, operates the SMT placement equipment and/or other equipment in order to perform the tasks necessary to manufacture PCBs and/or systems.

Responsibilities
