Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking a Machine Operator- Hotbox for the 1st shift to set up and operate CNC plasma tables, brake machines and a foam spray booth in a safe, efficient manner. You will program tool paths, verify dimensions and maintain equipment, while supporting assembly tasks when not operating machinery, enabling on-time production and quality output.

Job description

The Machine Operator- Hotbox, will be responsible for setting up and operating the 3 machines used in the Hotbox process (CNC plasma tables, power brakes and foaming spray booth). Operation will be done in accordance to blueprint specifications or written directives. This will include machine maintenance, programming, optimizing tool paths, handling materials and ensuring high quality and efficiency in production. The Machine Operator will also perform all aspects of the assembly process on a regular basis when not operating a machine.

It is required that the machine operator learn how to run at least 2 of the 3 machines within 90 days and all 3 machines within 120 days.

1st Shift Monday - Thursday 7:00am to 5:30pm with OT as needed on evenings and Fridays/Weekends

A Day In The Life

• Set up and operate at least 2 of the 3 machines (CNC Plasma, Brake Machines and/or Foam Booth) according to jobspecifications and safety standards within 90 days and all 3 within 120 days.
• CNC Plasma: Program and operate CNC tool paths from CAD drawings selecting proper tooling and position settings.
• CNC Plasma/Brake: Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precisionmeasuring tools.
• Spray Foam Booth: Operate spray guns, wear required PPE (supplied-air hood) and spray fiberglass materials.
• Optimize machine setups to minimize material waste and maximize productivity.
• Maintain, clean, and organize machinery and work area, ensuring functionality and safety.
• Train and monitor new and existing employees, promoting the company's safety programs and enforcing safety guidelines.
• Responsible for production output, product quality, on-time shipping, and minimizing costs while maintaining standards.
• Load and unload materials, verify settings, and palatalize finished parts systematically.
• Operate overhead cranes and other lifting devices safely.
• Perform additional duties such as deburring, drilling, buffing fabricated steel parts using hand and power tools.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, maintaining a trusting relationship and ensuring teamalignment with production goals.
• Other job duties as assigned.
• Physical exertion requiring full use of limbs; ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Exposure to adverse weather conditions, dirt, dust, grease, chemicals, sparks, and loud noises in a shop environment.
• Work involves operating or being in close proximity to powered equipment and machinery.
• Required to perform all aspects of the assembly process when not operating a machine.

What will help you thrive in this role?

• At least one (1) year of industry-specific experience in operating CNC machinery for metal fabrication.
• Experience in a leadership role within a plant or warehouse setting.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; proficient in using CAD software and programming CNC machines.
• Familiarity with standard industry equipment and safety procedures.
• High school diploma or equivalent; further technical training or education is a plus.
• Experience with forklift operation preferred.
• Computer literacy and ability to manage teams effectively
• Protective eye wear, earplugs, gloves, arm protectors, plastic apron, and other personal protective equipment as required.
• Hand tools, pneumatic air drill, rubber mallet, scrapers, measuring devices, and other related tools and equipment.
