Job summary

Jobtailor in Houston, TX is seeking a welding machine operator to set up and tend welding, soldering, and brazing equipment for metal fabrication projects. You will load parts, adjust controls, and perform quality checks to ensure pieces meet specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, or tend welding, soldering, or brazing machines for metal products, components, or assemblies.
  • Turn and press knobs and buttons or enter operating instructions into welding machines
  • Set up, operate, or tend welding machines that join or bond components to fabricate metal products or assemblies
  • Load or feed work pieces into welding machines to join or bond components
  • Correct problems by adjusting controls or stopping machines and opening holding devices
  • Inspect, measure, or test completed metal work pieces for conformance to specifications using measuring and testing devices
  • Record operational information on specified production reports
  • Read blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to determine product or job instructions or specifications
  • Assemble, align, and clamp work pieces into holding fixtures to bond, heat-treat, or solder fabricated metal components
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervision

Requirements
  • Temporary position
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED certificate and/or industrial experience
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
  • Basic mathematical and mechanical aptitude
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take instruction from other team members
  • Must observe and adhere to all safety rules and practices, including PPE requirements
  • Work boots and long pants are required
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, pulling, reaching, and stooping
