Job summary

Unique Industries, a family-owned manufacturer in Kentucky, is seeking a Machine Operator to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on paper plate forming machines. You will inspect parts and adjust for quality, and daily cleaning and lubrication.

You will operate multiple presses and packaging lines, troubleshoot production issues, load materials, support Packers, report settings, and maintain safety practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or high school equivalency required.
• Two years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing role required.
• Knowledge and enforcement of machine safety, i.e., lock-out/tagout procedures, hand tool safety, etc.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a minimum of two plate forming presses along with two sets of packaging lines.
• Troubleshoot problems during operation for both the forming presses and packaging line equipment.
• Supply and install all raw material for the forming presses and packaging equipment as needed.
• Monitor quality of product as it is discharged from forming machines, such as formation, stack configuration, print quality, delivery to packaging line, etc.
• Monitor the quality of the packaged product after passing through the packaging line.
• Communicate with assigned Packers to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials.
• Load paperboard rolls onto machine ensuring placement is correct.
• Assist the Packers in packing product when lines are running efficiently without issue.
• Report machine settings daily and provide detailed feedback about issues and defective parts.
• Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and lubing of machine parts during scheduled times.
• Document production line productivity and losses with leadership and shift counterparts.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
