Job summary

Du-Co Ceramics Company is seeking a cutting operator to operate preset cutting and grinding equipment for ceramic ware. The role involves measuring lengths, inspecting surfaces for defects, and maintaining a clean, organized work area in a dusty environment. The schedule is Monday to Friday, with overtime as required.

Candidates will assist with material handling, sample cutting, and batch record keeping. Training and cross-training on extruders and kilns are available as needed to support

Responsibilities

• Operates preset machines to cut and grind ceramic ware per specifications.
• Uses measuring tools to verify cut lengths meet tolerances.
• Inspects ware visually for surface defects such as chips or deformities.
• Removes dust and debris using air hoses per SOPs.
• Shuts down equipment if ware is non-conforming or if there is a malfunction and informs setup personnel.
• Counts parts produced using scales as required.
• Assists in moving ceramic ware to designated areas.
• Removes racks from the dryer and prepares items for next steps.
• Pulls batch samples and cuts to predetermined lengths.
• Records received boards against the work order; tracks production outputs.

Job description

Cutting Operator Duties:

• Operates preset machines designed to perform cutting, grinding, etc. of ceramic ware, as required.
• Uses various measuring instruments to verify cut lengths are to prescribed tolerances.
• Checks ware visually for surface defects including chips, blisters or other deformities
• Uses air hoses in accordance with standard operating procedures to remove dust or foreign material.
• Shuts off equipment if ware is not conforming to specifications or malfunctions and notifies set up personnel.
• Uses scale to determine number of parts produced, as required.
• Assists department personnel in moving of ceramic ware to areas designated.
• Removes racks from dryer.
• Pull batch samples and cut to pre-determined length.
• Count and record number of boards received against work order.
• Break tubes off of boards for staging or cutting on barrel cutter in accordance with work order instructions.
• Make minor adjustments including, but not limited to, dressing cutting wheels to ensure quality products.
• Help train and instruct other operators in quality and methods of their assigned duties.
• Cross train to operate extruders and pre-load kilns.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

These are not assembly line positions. Work environment is not climate controlled. Dusty work environment.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6a-2:30pm; Over-Time as required
