Job summary

IPG Chicago is seeking a Bandsaw/Perforator Operator to operate bandsaw and perforator lines, set up equipment, and maintain safety and quality standards. The role requires 2+ years in manufacturing, ability to lift 50 lbs, read a tape measure, and work 3 PM to 11:15 PM with union hourly status, and to train new operators as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years in a manufacturing or general labor setting preferred.
• Solid math and English communication abilities.
• Ability to stand/walk 8–12 hours.
• Comfort with confined workspace.
• Ability to lift/maneuver up to 50 lb.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Basic computer proficiency for paperwork.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machine and all auxiliary equipment safely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoot machines and adjust; escalate major issues to team leader or maintenance.
• Retrieve unfinished product from warehouse and move to conversion area without lift trucks.
• Operate bandsaw and trim product to customer specs per order ticket.
• Package finished product and label accordingly.
• Move finished product to staging area manually.
• Maintain accurate product data and records.
• Uphold 5S and housekeeping standards in the work area.
• Provide on-the-job training for new operators as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as required.

Immediate Supervisor: Plant Supervisory Staff

Status: Hourly Union

Position Purpose: Operates Bandsaw and Perforator Lines

Shift: Monday - Friday 3 PM - 11:15 PM

Principle Accountabilities

• Set up and operate machine and all auxiliary equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Troubleshoot machine, make adjustments, referring major issues to Team leader, Supervisor or Maintenance.
• Locate unfinished product in warehouse and bring to conversion area by cart, hand truck etc. (no lift truck)
• Place product on bandsaw and trim to customer specifications per order ticket.
• Package finished product and label in prescribed manner.
• Manually move finished product to staging area.
• Keep accurate product data and records, as required.
• Maintain good housekeeping/ 5S standards in the work area.
• Provide on the job training for new operators, as appropriate
• Other associated duties as required.

Essential Skills And Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 2+ Years in a Manufacturing environment / general labor experience preferred.
• Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8-12 hours at a time required
• Ability to work in space limited work area on continuous basis.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis
• Ability to read and understand a tape measure
• General computer knowledge and experience handling paperwork
• Effective interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role following recommended practices, with an emphasis on safety and injury prevention
