Job summary

ViskoTeepak in Kenosha, WI seeks a Large Shirring Machine Operator to customize large diameter casings by shirring stock to specified sizes. This hourly non-exempt role requires precise setup and monitoring in a food-grade production environment.

You will input machine settings, load casings, monitor oil output, assemble parts for new set-ups, track shirred quantities, and ensure proper packaging of finished goods while following GMP and safety procedures. Benefits accompany the role.

Responsibilities

• Monitor oil output and overall quality of end product.
• Gather parts for mechanics for new set-up per job order.
• Track quantity of product shirred for each order.
• Prepare and load netting and plastic overwrap onto machine as needed.
• Pack and label finished goods.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Title: Large Shirring Machine Operator

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Location: Kenosha, WI

Position Summary:

To customize large diameter casings by shirring stock to specified size.

Essential Functions:

• Input machine settings for large diameter and small diameter casings according to a work order and established set-up sheets.
• Load casing rolls onto machine using lifting equipment as available.
• Monitor oil output and overall quality of end product.
• Gather parts for the Mechanics for new set-up according to job order.
• Track quantity of product shirred for each order.
• Prepare and load netting and plastic overwrap onto machine as needed.
• Use box lifting equipment to place finished goods on skids.
• Pack and label boxes.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Reading and number matching skills.
• Basic data entry skills.
• Measurement skills (use of a ruler).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended prior of time. *Job is primarily performed standing; a chair is provided if needed.
• Lifting equipment is provided for loading and unloading rolls (average roll weight 55lbs.)
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. is required.

Environmental Conditions

• Air-conditioned/heated facility with adequate lighting.
• Personal protective equipment: hearing protection is required and provided.
• Padded rubber mats are provided for comfort while standing.

Good Manufacturing Practices for Food Safety:

All Operations employees are responsible for the safety and quality of ViskoTeepak products. Any and all food safety and quality issues must be reported to the supervisor immediately. Back-up operators for this position will be advised of this, and must be properly trained to run this operation using appropriate sanitation and food safety procedures.
