Job summary

ABB is seeking a Machine Operator for the 3rd shift at our Columbus, MS facility. The role focuses on operating shop floor machinery, setting up equipment, and maintaining production standards in a safe environment.

The incumbent will read technical drawings and work instructions to ensure accurate manufacturing, perform inspections, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts, with potential overtime when required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required with at least six months of industrial manufacturing experience, or equivalent military/technical training.
  • Previous motor manufacturing experience preferred, with ability to safely operate machinery and wear PPE.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday in support of production activities.
  • Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds and operate machinery for extended periods.

Your role and responsibilities

The Machine Operator is responsible for supporting production goals by following established systems and processes. This role involves operating shop floor machinery and equipment, as well as reading and interpreting technical drawings and work instructions to ensure accurate manufacturing of products.

The work model for the role is: Onsite

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Operate, set up, and monitor manufacturing equipment to produce high-quality products safely, efficiently, and in accordance with production standards.
  • Perform assembly, inspection, and measurement activities using precision tools and equipment to ensure defect-free products and compliance with specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and report equipment or production issues, support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, work across multiple production areas as needed, and support production schedules, including overtime requirements.
Qualifications for the role
  • High School Diploma or GED required, along with a minimum of six (6) months of industrial manufacturing experience, equivalent military service, or applicable vocational/technical training.
  • Previous motor manufacturing experience preferred, with the ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday in support of production activities.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and operate machinery and related equipment for extended periods.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to work in a manufacturing environment that includes noise, temperature variations, and moving equipment.
