Job summary

Klein Tools, a leader in hand tools, is seeking a Machine Operator to run semi-automated equipment and perform light assembly in our Mansfield, TX facility. The role emphasizes quality, efficiency, and safety as you contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

You will read work orders, inspect parts, and collaborate with teams to meet production goals. Overtime may be required to support heavy demand and base operations run smoothly.

Qualifications

• Reading, writing, speaking and understanding basic English are required.
• Basic math skills and visual quality inspections are required.
• Basic computer skills may be required depending on equipment/area.

Responsibilities

• Run production jobs on semi-automated equipment and perform light assembly, packaging, or other manual tasks per work instructions.
• Inspect product for quality using gauges and visual checks; record findings and downtime in log books.
• Read work orders and blueprints to verify specifications and materials; ensure accuracy of BOMs and inventory transactions.
• Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report defects to technical staff.
• Document production counts, scrap, and labor hours; complete paperwork or electronic entries.
• Adhere to 6S standards and participate in lean manufacturing activities.

Machine Operator

The Machine Operator is responsible running production jobs on semi-automated equipment and performing light assembly, packaging, press operations or other manual tasks. This position may be responsible for minor setup and troubleshooting depending on the equipment and the area the employee is responsible for.

• Run production jobs on various types of semi-automated equipment and/or perform various types of light assembly, packaging, press operations, or other manual tasks by hand per written or verbal work instructions to produce quality parts while maintaining productivity standards.
• Inspect product for quality throughout production run using a variety of measuring tools such as go/no-go gauges and via visual inspection, record inspection findings, and write detailed downtime and other shift communications in a log book.
• Read work orders and blueprints to identify appropriate specifications for machine setup and product quality as required. Review work orders to ensure bill of materials are accurate and all inventory transactions are performed correctly.
• Troubleshoot minor machine issues and communicate quality defects to the technical staff as required.
• Report accurate count of production parts, scrap, and labor hours by completing required paperwork and/or electronic entry.
• Comply with established 6S standards and participate in various lean manufacturing activities to improve products, reduce waste, or learn new skills or operations.
• Cross-train by rotating to different machines and work areas as required.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and related experience preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.
• Ability to demonstrate basic math skills and perform visual quality inspections.
• Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills may be required depending on the equipment and the area the employee is responsible for.
• Ability to learn, problem-solve, and make decisions per work instructions and documents.
• Ability to communicate and work as a team member.
• Ability to work overtime as needed by the company is required.

Physical Demand Requirements

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
