Job summary

Pyrotek, a global leader in high temperature materials, is seeking a 2nd shift Machine Operator in our Aurora, OH facility to process mesh fabric into finished products. You will read work orders, perform slitting, cutting, stapling, and assembly safely and efficiently, and document labor and materials using barcodes.

Responsibilities include operating cutters and presses, handling molding operations, and ensuring quality and productivity targets. Prior manufacturing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret basic drawings and perform basic math.
• Forklift certification must be available or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Scan work orders and read instructions to understand product specs and requirements.
• Perform slitting: load material, position blades, cut to lengths.
• Operate cutters: set parameters, select carton sizes, seal and stack.
• Operate mold press: load/unload, trim, stack and pack components.
• Perform assembly: roll, fold, apply components, staple as needed.
• Document material usage and job completion using barcode scanners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

2nd Shift: M-Th 2:30pm-12:30am

The Machine Operator will be responsible for processing mesh fabric material into semi-finished and finished products by performing slitting, cutting, stapling, and assembly techniques safely and efficiently.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Scan work orders and read instructions to understand product specifications, run quantities, component configurations, and raw material requirements.
• Perform slitting functions by selecting and loading raw material rolls, positioning blades in proper sequence and spacing, attaching slit ends to cardboard tubes, running the slitter/rewinder, and cutting material to specified lengths.
• Operate klicker/guillotine cutters by setting machine parameters, selecting appropriate carton sizes, attaching pre-print labels, sealing cartons, and stacking finished product on pallets.
• Operate mold press equipment by loading materials, unloading finished products, trimming, stacking, and packing cups as required.
• Perform assembly operations including rolling, folding, applying multiple components, and stapling using foot-activated industrial staplers or modifying components using band saws, drill presses, or table saws.
• Complete work order documentation by recording material usage, parts produced, rejected material, and job completion using bar code scanners.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• One (1) year of manufacturing or machine operation experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Manufacturing/Technical Skills. Ability to read, interpret and apply basic drawings. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) utilizing a calculator, including forms of measurement and other work material calculations. Working knowledge of tools, equipment, and devices, and ability to use hand operated and power tools. Proficiency with performing tasks with precision and manual dexterity. Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
• Communication Skills. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and obtain clarification and respond well to questions. Proficiency in writing clearly and concisely and editing work for spelling and grammar.
• Computer/Applications Skills. Basic computer skills and ability to use a variety of software applications systems to access material, record labor hours and access ADP Employee Self Service.
• Flexibility. Ability to work outside of standard schedule to meet department expectations and deadlines.

While performing the essential responsibilities of this position, Team Member generally will work in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. Periodic exposure to outdoor environment through open doors. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as approved footwear, respirators, safety glasses/goggles, may be required.
